There were no lectures in these weeks as we are proceeding with our DPI final project progress. So sir would be walking around the classroom and checking our work/ consultation while continuing with our work.
Theme: Self Titled

INTRO
My name is Mercy Chong. I’m from Sabah but recently has moved here in KL to further my tertiary studies which is currently at Taylor’s University :)
What is your passion?
Anything about art has always been my passion since the start. Like digital art, painting or maybe even crochet. To me, art has always been one of the ways for me to express how I feel rather than speaking it out or writing them down :p and it is also something where i can
What motivates you to achieve your dream?
For now, I don’t really have a specific dream or anything but one of the things that motivates me to achieve goals is definitely seeing past sem student’s e-portfolio of their projects. It gives me the motivation drive to improve my work and do better.

How do you want to visualise your dream into an artwork?
Maybe through finding some nice references online like for example, Pinterest and Behance.

INTRO | Tell us about your work. The work that I am going to present in this project should be aligned with my biography on who I am since as the project title says: Self-titled project. |
What is the concept behind it? I wanted to have a dreamy + flowery self-portrait concept where I focused more on the aesthetic/beauty parts of it. | |
What is the message you want people to understand it? Since it is a self-portrait project, I would like to emphasize on the aesthetics and also experiment unique ways to enhance the pictures from Photoshop to After Effects. | |
SUMMARY | What is your motto/quote? I think it would be “Step out from your comfort zone” or “Enjoy the present moments in life”. |
- Create a sketch for your work (2 mock-up poster sketches)
As an artist, I am drawn towards the beauty of nature, specifically towards the delicate and intricate forms of flowers. And since that this project is based on our own self-portrait, I would like to convey my artwork using the mix between nature and self.
My aim is to have an aesthetically pleasing kind of artwork project and hence I have used flowers as my source of inspiration for this project. Besides the aesthetic appeal, flowers also symbolizes different themes like gentleness, hope, and growth in which that it complements how my self-portrait was created as it is a visual exploration of who I am and my self identity.
