Cinematography
  • Motion picture/ film/video is made up of many shots.
  • Shot is a continuous view shot by one camera without interruption.
  • Sequence is a series of scenes, or shots, complete in itself.
Shot size
> Determines how large the area that's visible within the frame.
  • Wide shot -> Extreme wide (eg: showing a cityscape to show where the character is in their environment.)
              -> Medium wide (A character shot that cuts off across the legs above/ below the knees)
  • Medium shot 
  • Close-up shot - to emphasize small details like facial expressions/ small objects.
    -> Medium close-up
    -> Extreme close-up
  • Over-the-shoulder shot - to show the character/main subject's POV.
[Most films uses medium shots to observe closer to the situation and follow the plot]

Composition: Rules of Thirds
Subject Angle: Composition
-> Facial modelling is best when subject is turned 45'to the camera.
-> Angle the camera so that parallel lines diminish and converge preferably towards the light.

What is the Three Act Structure - Diagram

Beginning (Introduction)
: To introduce the world, main characters, situation
: Leads to an incident that complicates the story 
(Plot Point 1 to proceed to climax) 

Middle (Confrontation)


End (Resolution)

W4: Mise en Scene (putting on stage in French)
: Refers to what we see on screen; it's visuals, meaning, all of the elements that appear on camera and their arrangement.

  • Download the footage given.
  • Create a new Premiere Pro project and import the clips.
  • Arrange the clip scenes accordingly and export the video.
