Task 2: Experience Design Project Proposal

[Task To-do]
  • To come up with an experience design project from a subject/topic of their choice. This can be anything from screen experience to physical space experience.
  • To create a professional experience design proposal document that explains their project idea and how will the experience be for the user.
Proposal to include:
  • Analysis of current experience
  • Comparison with similar solutions + how it can be better
  • Sketches
  • Design mockups

Ideation process
Refer to Task 1 + Exercises

Design Process

I'll be doing the prototype drafts on Figma. Experimenting with the UI design first before diving into the technical stuff.

Initially I created onboarding pages fro this app but sooner realise that we're doing this app with Unity so it's not necessary to have an onboarding page so it's more straightforward to use.

Also I kept changing the name of this app but in the end settled with Pathfindr AR.

Making the home page and the AR camera exploration mode.

Fig 2.5 Prototype draft

Added Challenge mode and another home page for the in-app badges from completing the challenges.

Exploration Mode (Normal)
The Exploration mode allows users to freely explore their surroundings at their own pace. With this mode, users can view further information about the landmarks, nearby hotspots and more through AR markers.

There's also a step count bar for users to keep track on how many steps they've travelled around so far.

Challenge Mode
In this mode, it introduces a more interactive experience where it encourages users to explore the area through specific challenges.

Unlike exploration mode, this mode offers challenges and uses AR markers as subtle clues or guides without direct indicators. It is to create an adventurous experience where users can earn in-app rewards for completing challenges, in which makes users to be more engaged in this app.

Feedbacks

W5: (Feedback on AR app ideation)
VirtuWear:

CityVoyage: Instead of going to a city area (Eg: KLCC, Pasar Seni) maybe you can try your neighbourhood areas or nearby LRT easy-to-commute places so that when you want to go back to the area and scan around to test out your app you don't have to purposely go for a longer route to the city area for this. Maybe the neighbourhood areas can also get to capture some local insights or hotspots as well.

Memorease: Someone also have similar ideas like this. This can be the backup plan if the second one doesnt work as it seemed quite complex especially with the limited time for this assignment.
